Mission Fees
Although the message of the gospel is God's free gift to us (1 Corinthians 9:18), there are expenses. The Redemptorists will strive together with the parish for good stewardship in this area.
The Redemptorists ask the parish to pay the missionary(ies) actual travel, lodging and food expenses. We use the most economical form of transportation time and schedule permit. A statement of travel expenses will be given to the pastor during the mission. These expenses will not be a barrier for a parish wanting a mission. Please let us know if assistance is needed to make appropriate arrangements.
There is no set fee or stipend for the mission; instead, a free will offering is requested. This offering takes the form of a collection at the mission's evening closing Mass. The previous night of the Mass, the missionary(ies) will announce this collection and distribute envelopes. There should be no other collections during the mission. Since the missionary(ies) are not salaried and receive no other health and retirement benefits, this collection is the sole means of their ministerial and personal support.
The parish is responsible for all other expenses related to the mission.
